Firebird Griffins vs Soper home care
Griffins put in a solid first game back post Covid V an experienced Soper Homecare side. A bit of a slow and rusty quarter from both sides with no goal for the first 4 mins! Griffins line up saw Hannah Tuikoro at GS, debut for Shannon Ormand in a senior league at GA, returning to netball saw Amy Roberts in at WA, Ellie Johnson taking up a new position at C, Jess Harvey at WD and a solid defence; Izzy page at GD, also making her debut in senior league and Harriet Rodgers dominating the circle at GK. Quite a few errors from both sides allowed for lots or interceptions and turnovers. Unfortunately, the oppositions’ shooters were on fabulous form and took the lead in the 1st quarter ending 5-2.
Some changes in the second quarter saw Emily Owens coming on at GK, Ellie moving to WD and Jess moving to C. The 2nd quarter Izzy was on fire getting her hand to many loose balls and rebounds. Griffins began to find some consistency seeing some great feed into the circle from Amy and some great movement from Shannon. Soper continued their lead to make it 16-5.
Griffins made some changes to the formation. Emily Owens took up a new role GS we here she found tremendous form. Hannah moved to GK pairing with Isobel which saw lots of turnovers being made in the defensive circle. 3rd quarter 23-11.
The final quarter Harriet moved to WD and Jess to WA. Both sides make many errors under fatigue, Emily and Shannon moved well in the circle together. Final score 28-14 to Soper.
