Griffins v Curtis Marine Devils

Posted by Jo O'Daly on 7 October 2019

Griffins started their match raring to go and with complete confidence.   Curtis Marine Devils took an early lead and following a series of distance and footwork decisions, the confidence started to wain.  Ellen and Naomi continued to fight but Devils shooting was on form.  The first half resulted in 10-5 to Devils.   Lizzie came on during the second half as GK and continued to provide strength in the defending circle.  Maddie, Jo and Naomi worked hard but Griffins struggled to keep hold of the ball moving down the court and the strong Devils defence disrupted the circle play, resulting in a half time score of 19-10 with Devils increasing their lead margin.  The third quarter saw some further changes with Jaz coming onto the court as GA.  Griffins maintained a better quarter with easier movement down the court and good shooting from Courtney and Jaz, only losing by 1 goal in that quarter resulting in a score of 24-14.  Further changes in the last quarter saw Ellen move from defence to the shooting circle and whilst Griffins won the final quarter by 1 goal, the overall loss was 32-23.
