A Nail-Biting Win for Griffins

Griffins took on Parkway Princess on Monday. They got off to a slow start, with the defence, Lizzie and Emily, struggling slightly to make interceptions; allowing Princess’s to take the lead 10-3.

Despite this, both defence and attack came back for the second quarter with all guns blazing with some fantastic work from Maddie, Laura, Ellen, Jo and Jaz In the centre court and attacking end. The team managed to secure narrower goal difference of 9-15 to Princesses.

The third quarter saw a huge team change on Griffin’s side. A mixture of incredible shooting from Courtney and Donna, dynamic centre court play from Laura, Emily and Jo and the strong defence from Lizzie and Ellen. This did the trick, allowing Griffins to narrowly get ahead 19-18.

By the final quarter, Griffins and Princesses both knew how evenly matched both teams were and how much we both needed the wins. With impeccable shooting and some impressive last minute interceptions, Griffins took the lead with seconds to go, finishing with a final score of 26-23.

Ellen’s versatility in both shooting and defending won her player of the match!
